Kathryn Thomas has revealed that she’s engaged to her love Padraig McLoughlin.
The RTÉ star admitted that she “bawled her eyes out” when her restaurateur boyfriend got down on one knee on Saturday night at Ballyfin House in Laois.
However, instead of typically popping the question over a candle-lit dinner, Padraig asked Kathryn to be his wife while she was sitting in her dressing gown in their hotel room.
“We were back in the room. I was there with the hair scrapped back, in a dressing gown and white slippers eating a pack of peanuts is when it happened,” Kathryn told the Irish Independent.

The Carlow native told how herself and Padraig, who have been together since 2013, had discussed marriage in the past few months – and admitted that she may have dropped some engagement ring hints.
“We had talked about it on and off for the last six months. I might have dropped a few Pinterest pictures,” she said. “Just a few.”
Kathryn is now sporting a stunning princess cut diamond engagement ring that Padraig picked out with the help of jeweller Paul Sheeran.
Speaking about the proposal, the fitness fanatic revealed that despite thinking Padraig was going to propose last Christmas – she was genuinely surprised.

“I thought he was going to propose at Christmas last year so I shouldn’t have been surprised but I don’t think you’re ever ready for someone to ask you that.
“I bawled, I cried my eyes out. I didn’t think it was going to feel this special, but it is wonderful.”
While Kathryn’s hectic schedule won’t see her wedding coming any time soon, the TV star said that they will most likely tie the knot in 2018, but for now – they’re too busy celebrating.
“It has been mental trying to tell everybody.
“And it’s been champagne and drinks but it’s so nice to celebrate something like this with all your friends and family,” she added.
