Gay Byrne and wife Kathleen Watkins have opened up about Gay’s cancer treatment.
The RTE announced in November 2016 to his listeners that he would be off air to go to hospital as doctors had discovered “a bit of prostate cancer.”
“The treatment continues and we hope for the best,” Gay revealed.

Kathleen also spoke about her husband’s treatment and thanked the many people all over the country who have contacted them.
“Everything is on hold while we do our best to look after Gay,” she told the Sunday Independent.
“He is doing well. The treatment is ongoing. Do thank the many people all over the country who have been in touch.
“We got all the notes and letters and cards. We read all of them. Thank you. Thank you to all those kind people.It’s so much appreciated.”
