John Halligan cancels Late Late Show appearance

Minister of State John Halligan has cancelled his appearance on Friday night’s Late Late Show.

The Independent Alliance TD was due to join Ryan in the RTÉ studios to discuss how far he’s willing to go as the stand-off between him and his partners in Government continues over a second ‘cath lab’ facility at University Hospital Waterford.

According to the Irish Independent, an RTÉ spokesperson said, “Minister of State John Halligan had been booked as a guest on The Late Late Show for a number of weeks and had been set to appear on this Friday’s show.

“However, on Thursday morning he contacted the Late Late Show team to say that he had decided not to take part in this Friday’s programme, as is his prerogative.

“We are, obviously, disappointed that he is not going to appear but the invitation to take part in The Late Late Show remains open.”

The show will instead host a panel of “opinionated experts” – who will discuss politics.

“As political parties hold their think-ins ahead of a new political session, the Late Late Show hosts its own think-in with a panel of opinionated experts.”

Other guests to appear on the show tonight include Bear Grylls and Jane Seymour.
