Jamie is very grateful for his success thanks to the 50 Shades franchise but revealed that now that he’s known, people say horrible things about his family.

“People like to go after your family and s*** as well. It’s one of the main reasons I left social media,” he told Marie Claire UK.

“They say horrific things about your loved ones, and so it opens up fast.”

Rest of my life: The Belfast native would love to play Paul Spector forever | BBC

Jamie also admitted that his character Paul Spector from BBC’s The Fall is someone who he would love to play for the rest of his life – despite the show’s creator saying that this season is the Belfast native’s last.

“I’m playing such a horrific character, but I would play him for the rest of my life if I could.

“It’s a real comfort to come back and do that show, and you know, I’m very grateful for it because it’s changed my professional life,” he added.

In his last season, the father-of-two was surprised to find that his dad made a guest appearance on The Fall.
