IFTAs host Caroline Morahan says tonight's awards will be MUCH better than last year

Actress Caroline Morahan has ensured tonight’s IFTAs will be a huge improvement on last year.

The annual award ceremony was slammed last year as a “shambles” when technical difficulties meant stars couldn’t be heard when they accepted their awards.

Now for the first time TV3 will air the awards instead of RTE, and host Caroline has said even The Oscars face the same issues.

“Some things work and some things don’t work,” she said.

“This happens all the time even on the highest level like the Oscars. There are things that just didn’t hit off.

“Last year is a high learning experience.”

Tonight Ireland’s A-listers will walk the red carpet at Dublin’s Mansion House, and Caroline said this year will be extra special.

“I am walking in at the perfect moment. Last year everyone got a real fright about how it went, they were caught off guard,” she told the Irish Sun.

“So this year they are on point and making sure the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed.

“Last year got a lot of bad press so we are making sure this is a more intimate ceremony, more special.

“People will get time to appreciate it all, and it won’t be like a treadmill, ramming through people,” she explained.
