EXCLUSIVE! IFTAs get lowest ratings to date – as only 66,000 people tune in

Goss.ie can exclusively reveal that the IFTAs have hit their lowest viewer ratings yet.

The star-studded Film and Drama Awards saw stars like Liam Neeson grace the red carpet, as well as Game of Thrones beauty Natalie Dormer as well as the likes of Chris O’Dowd, Amy Huberman, Sarah Greene, Bob Geldof, Andrew Scott and Evanna Lynch.

Despite the glitzy event pulling in big names this year, Goss.ie can reveal that only 66,000 people tuned into to the awards ceremony on TV3 on Sunday evening.

In figures seen by Goss.ie the average audience was 66,000 throughout the show, with a peak at 120,000.

Goss.ie previously revealed that the TV IFTAs, which took place last October, saw ratings drop to 85,000, but this means that even less people watched the star-studded Film and Drama Awards.

The award ceremony has seen their ratings plummet in the last three years.

In 2013 over 581,000 people tuned into the ceremony on RTE with stars like Robert Sheenan and Saoirse Ronan in attendance.

A year later the ratings dropped to 382,000 – the year the the awards were criticised over sound problems and technical issues, leaving hosts Laura Whitmore and Simon Delaney red-faced.

Last year Goss.ie exclusively reported that when the awards moved to TV3, the ratings went down to 108,900, with the TV version of the awards losing a further 24,000 viewers in October.

While the IFTAs have been losing viewers on TV, the award ceremony continues to bring the best of Irish talent together to celebrate the best in the TV and Film Industry.

Goss.ie has contacted both IFTA and TV3 for comment.
