2015 was a year full to the brim of love, marriage and babies – but there’s been some heart aches too.

From shock splits to the on-again-off-again relationships – it’s been a rocky year for a few of our celebs, and one things for sure and that’s that fame and money does NOT mend a broken heart.

Goss.ie has compiled a list of all the break ups that happened in 2015, and it ain’t pretty folks.

Check our list out below:

 

1. Aidan Turner and Sarah Greene

Aidan briefly mentioned his split with actress Sarah Greene back in November in an interview with the Telegraph – this, we have to say, was a fairly shocking split.

Considering the pair were dating for nearly 5 years after meeting at the Gaiety School of Acting, this one was pretty out of left field.

Although we were sure these two would end up walking down the aisle, Aidan insists they are still good friends.

2. Laura Whitmore and Danny O’Reilly

Laura and Danny have been through quite a lot, initially splitting in 2012 they were both vocal about how heartbroken they both were, with Danny penning numerous songs based on the break up.

Then earlier THIS year the pair were spotted looking very cosy and very much back ON kissing and cuddling in a London park, but unfortunately it wasn’t happily ever after for these two.

Despite their brief reconciliation, their romance went back off again, and they’ve both remained tight lipped about what exactly happened.

At the moment the two exes have since moved on with Laura looking loved up with new rocker beau Rory Williams, and Danny is currently dating model Holly Carpenter.

 

3. Lisa Murphy and Gerald Kean

Nobody on the face of this earth has any idea what goes on between these two, let alone them!

The notoriously on-again-off-again couple have split a total of three times, announcing their third split in January of this year, but then revealed they were back on AGAIN in April – we can’t keep up.

For right now, we’re not totally sure what the status of their rollercoaster ride of a relationship is, so the jury’s out folks.

 

4. Brian McFadden and Vogue Williams

Definitely one of the most talked about splits of 2015, Brian and Vogue shocked everyone when they split.

The pair announced their break up back in July, but it wasn’t your typical split as it will probably go down as one of the most amicable celebrity splits ever.

Despite breaking up, both of them remain friends and still regularly see each other, with Vogue recently revealing that Brian will be spending Christmas with her and her family in Dublin.

 

5. Thalia Heffernan and Andrew McGuinness

It was revealed just last week that model Thalia has split from her nightclub bouncer boyfriend Andrew.

The split came as a surprise as Thalia’s Instagram followers are used to seeing sweet snaps of her and her beau, however the pair have gone their separate ways.

A source said that Thalia is happy to be a single girl about town again following signing a contract with world renowned modelling agency Elite Models.

 

6. Johnny McDaid and Courteney Cox

We literally couldn’t cope when we heard this news only a few weeks ago.

The Snow Patrol star and the Friends actress reportedly called off their engagement a month ago after 18 months together, with the split being blamed on numerous thing including Courtney’s closeness with her male co-stars.

It is now being reported that Courtney is desperate to salvage their relationship with couples counselling and is currently being support from her bestie Jennifer Aniston.

Meanwhile, Johnny appeared on stage with Kodaline in Dublin at the weekend as they did a duet with Imelda May.

 

7. Imelda May and Darrel Higham

Back in July, Imelda announced that her marriage with her husband Darrel of thirteen years was over.

Another shocker – Darrel was the guitarist in her band and they had a daughter named Violet together.

The singer took to her Facebook page to announce the news and said that despite the break up being “very sad”, her and Darrel will remains good friends and that they have the “deepest love and respect for each other.”

 

8. Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander

It was reported back in September that these two had split after dating for just 9 months.

The pair started dating after working together on the set of The Light Between Oceans, and things quickly became serious as it was reported back in May that she moved into his New York apartment.

Despite the break up, the pair were then spotted together in October seeming very much still ON, so we’re not too sure what the status of their relationship is, we certainly hope they haven’t parted ways.

 

9. Aoife Walsh and Mystery Man

Early this year Aoife revealed that she was seeing a new man outside of the industry, but unfortunately the romance didn’t last.

In April Aoife exclusively revealed to Goss.ie that she was indeed single again and that the break up was “amicable”, mentioning that she just wants to ‘have fun right now’.

On the topic of love now, Aoife recently revealed that she is indeed looking for a “gentleman” and it was reported this weekend that she’s now dating a handsome solicitor.

 

10. Niall Horan and Melissa Whitelaw

Niall met Australian model Melissa on tour early this year and we’re spotted on numerous occasions in London after wards.

Despite the pair having a lot of fun together, their romance fizzled out reportedly due to the difficulty of a long distance relationship.

Following the couple going their separate ways, Niall was linked to Ariana Grande after she was spotted leaving his house in the early hours of the morning back in June, but that’s old news now that Niall is currently hanging out with a different American popstar.

Niall has been spotted getting very cosy with none other than Selena Gomez, with Selena jetting to the UK to support Niall for his final X Factor performance.

 

11. Luke Fitzgerald and Cheryl O’Rourke

It was reported back in April that Luke and model girlfriend Cheryl had split MONTHS previously before last Christmas.

Luke first debuted Cheryl in 2014 when he walked arm and arm with the model at the annual Leinster Ball.

Pals confirmed the news to Goss.ie, and said that “A lot of people thought they would last, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

 

12. Victoria Smurfit and Doug Baxter

Back in February, Once Upon A Time star Victoria Smurfit released a statement admitting that her and her husband Doug of 15 years had indeed gone their separate ways.

The couple had three kids together and assured that they would remain the best of friends and focus on their children.

Victoria previously admitted that her role as Cruella de Vil in Once Upon A Time has helped her deal with the difficult break up.
