Feature: The 13 Irish celebs you just HAVE to follow on Twitter

With the recent news that several of Ireland’s top celebs have thousands of fake Twitter followers – its a tough time to be a famous social media user.

From online haters to coming to terms with the tough realisation that most of the people following you aren’t real people – Twitter can be a tough place to be.

So  Goss HQ thought we would throw some of our very own famous faces a solid and give you the best celeb accounts to follow.

It’s clear they need all the help they can get:

 

1. Amy Huberman @AmyHuberman (224,000 followers)

The actress and best-selling author has used her Twitter account to show us all she has a wicked sense of humour.

BOD may be top dog on the rugby field, but his better half has a way with words we can’t help but love.

Amy is also a fan of posting snaps and a hilarious picture can often be found accompanying her clever tweets.

As a member of the biggest boy band in the world, Niall’s Twitter is one not to be missed.

Since the group are so often touring around the world, a considerable portion of the Mullingar native’s tweets concern their trips and will appeal to any of you travel junkies out there.

Niall is also very easily excited and virtually every message ends in an exclamation point.

If we were raking in millions every year, we’d be excited about everything too.

When you get past staring at the haircut, Eoghan McDermott’s Twitter does have quite a lot to offer.

He’s a fan of the humorous tweet and isn’t afraid to voice his opinion – like when he recently posted an angry open letter to journalist Michael O’Doherty.

The Voice of Ireland presenter also acts as a newscaster and regularly keeps his followers informed about what’s going on in the news.

But the Bridesmaids actor’s Twitter is also just good for a general laugh as demonstrated by his insistence on being the new member of One Direction.

And what’s not to love about someone who describes themself in their bio as a “nappy ninja”?

The TV presenter has amassed an impressive 362,000 followers on the site since she joined in 2009.

The Bray native is very fond of photography and her frequent pic posts are a major reason why you should give the blonde beauty a follow.

Most importantly, Laura’s tweets are an escape into the world of the rich and famous – the former MTV star gives regular updates on her glamorous travels around the world.

Everyone has nostalgia and it’s great to see what members of boybands past are up to these days.

Of course recently he sent tongues wagging after Louis Walsh claimed he was a diva (oh how we love celeb spats).

The Fall star doesn’t tweet as often as some of the other celebs on our list – but we like that he keeps us waiting…

With her Italian wedding just a few weeks away now, we are keeping our eyes peeled for a pic from the fairytale ceremony.

The main draw to the Celeb Big Brother stars Twitter are her pics – and as one of Ireland’s most beautiful women, that’s all the reason she needs.

We think everyone can really appreciate BOD’s Twitter.

Although the rugby legend has retired from the sport, he still regularly tweets about matches and is also very fond of retweeting others.

While his wife could possibly be the funniest Irish star on Twitter, Brian has his funny moments too.

Fashion fans will love Hazel’s account – the model frequently posts selfies showing off her style and her ridiculously perfect body.

The former Big Brother star is one of the most popular Irish celebs on Twitter, with 116,000 followers and counting.

As well as sharing what she’s up to the model even gives a mention to her footballer boyfriend Andros Townsend, who gave her a Mercedes as a Christmas present.

She even shared their first official picture as a couple on her Twitter account.

Teasing girlfriend Roz Purcell and messing with Eoghan McDermott on the social network can be quite entertaining.
