EXCLUSIVE! Love/Hate creator on new Hawaii series: 'I hope it will fly'

Love/Hate Writer and Creator Stuart Carolan has admitted he can’t wait to see the US version of the series.

The award-winning writer penned the popular series, with the show now picked up by Showtime, and set in Hawaii.

The series is being adapted by Shutter Island writer Dennis Lehane, and speaking to Goss.ie Stuart said he wishes him the best.

“It’s exciting… that thing with Hawaii has been happening for the last two years,” he admitted.

“It’s great that someone like Dennis Lehane is adapting this. He’s an amazing writer so hopefully it will fly but you don’t know.

“You get used to thinking things are going to happen and then they don’t happen at the last minute.

“But if I think if it’s got any chance of working it’s with him,” he told Goss.ie.

Speaking at the premiere of new Irish movie Get Up and Go, Stuart admitted although he has nothing to do with the US show he will be flying over to Hawaii to be on set.

“I talked to (Dennis) a little at the beginning about it but no it’s pretty much his baby, it will have very little to do with me.”

“I’m going to force myself. Even if I’m not invited over I’m going to go and have a look. If it goes ahead it will be fun to have a look,” he admitted.

And while Stuart is jetting to the US for the show, the writer revealed he is even happier for his cast members to see them doing so well internationally.

“It’s kind of like your children leaving home. I’m so happy for them all. They’re great,” he told Goss.ie.

“It’s been a great experience working with them all and for a lot of them Love/Hate was there first gig so we’ve all been together for or five years.

“It’s the first time in six years that things haven’t been so crazy so I’m having fun enjoying weekends off.
