Enda Kenny congratulates Donald Trump – and people are NOT happy

The entrepreneur has been elected as the 45th President of the United States

Enda Kenny has offered his sincere congratulations to Donald Trump – and people are not happy.

It was announced this morning in Ireland that the entrepreneur is set to become the next President of America – and, let’s just say, people are not looking forward to the next four years.

Following the news of the results, our Taoiseach released a statement to congratulate the new leader, and offer his respects to Hillary Clinton, who would have become the first female president had she won.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Ireland, I am pleased to offer our sincere congratulations to Donald J. Trump on his election as the 45th President of the United States,” he wrote.

“Ireland and the United States have enjoyed a very close and warm relationships for many generations and I am confident that under his leadership our bilateral relations will continue to prosper.

“Also, we think of Hillary Clinton, a friend to Ireland who fought such a tough campaign.

“I look forward to working with the new administration in the time ahead in the cause of international peace and security.”

However, many of Irish people have since took to Twitter to vent their anger and concern that Enda would release a statement on behalf of “the people of Ireland.”
