Diana Bunici: 'I made Steve do an interview for my book and he ended up in hospital'

Diana Bunici has revealed that she “forced” her boyfriend Steve Garrigan to do an interview for her book The Pursuit of Awesome, and he ended up in hospital the next day.

The 26-year-old asked her Kodaline frontman beau to do the interview with her before he went on tour for six weeks, but it turns out he had pneumonia and had to be put on a drip the following day.

“Steve was going on tour in America and was feeling sick the day before but I was like, ‘Listen you have to do the interview now because you’re going to be away for six weeks and I need to get working’,” she said.

“I kind of forced him to do it and we found out the next day he actually had pneumonia and the second he got to America he was put on a drip.”

The blonde beauty’s book, which is set for release on March 9, saw her interview 45 celebrities including Laura Whitmore and Hozier, and will be aimed at encouraging teenagers to achieve their career goals.

Meanwhile, the TV presenter, who moved to Ireland from Moldova with her family when she was just eight years old, also revealed that she got “picked on” at school for being Moldovian.

“Yes I got picked on because I didn’t know the language and I stood out,” she told the mirror.

“I was the weird girl that would bring Moldovan food into school, I just stood out like a sore thumb.”

Despite her difficult start in school, Diana said her experience integrating into a new school made her a stronger person and made her more “fearless” which has helped her in her career.

“It has definitely made me fearless in terms of tackling new projects and not being afraid to take a risk and make a change.

“I moved to London last January and people say that that’s so brave, but it’s really not.

“I’m in a position where, unlike my parents did when they moved here, I speak the language,” she said.

“And I have money to support myself and I have five or six years of experience in my field.”
