Conor McGregor facing legal action over his Notorious Irish Whiskey plans

INSTAGRAM

Conor McGregor is facing some serious legal issues over his plans to launch his own whiskey empire.

After his fight against Floyd Mayweather last month, Conor revealed his plans to “take over” the Irish whiskey market with his own “Notorious” brand of booze.

However, Conor’s plans could face a major setback as Seamus O’Hara, founder of Carlow Brewing Company, has reportedly hired a Madrid law firm to block the UFC star from registering the Notorious trademark across Europe.

According to the Irish Sun, Conor filed an application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (Euipo) in Spain to register “Notorious” as a trademark for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks last month.

But unfortunately for Conor, Seamus, who already owns a European trademark for Notorious in two drinks categories, has intervened and is opposing his plans.

Seamus registered “Notorious” with Euipo in May, 2016 – and last year the Carlow Brewing Company released a pale ale called Notorious Red IPA, which they think will cause confusion.

Meanwhile, Conor is represented by Dublin trademark attorneys, FR Kelly.
