Caroline Morahan on hosting the IFTAs: 'Last year's awards was a wake up call'

Caroline Morahan that all of the problems with last year’s IFTAs was a huge wake up call for the organisers.

The actress has been announced as this year’s host, following in the ill-fated footsteps of Laura Whitmore and Simon Delaney who were left unimpressed with the 2014 ceremony.

Speaking about the awards last year, Caroline said organisers have had to make changes.

“What happened I think there is there was a technical fault with the sound which was the big issue,” she said.

“There was 40 plus awards being handed out but each of them are as important.

“It was just too much for one night,” she told Colm Hayes on 2FM. “What last year caused was to wake up and say let’s split it up,” she explained.

Caroline will host the Film and Drama awards on Sunday May 24th, with a TV awards then taking place in October.
