Brave Michelle Heaton has womb removed – in bid to beat cancer for good

Brave Michelle Heaton has revealed she has undergone a hysterectomy in her attempt to beat cancer for good.

The mum-of-two underwent the operation in the past two weeks but insisted it won’t hold her back.

The former Liberty X singer, 35, opted for surgery after doctors told her she carried a mutated BRCA2 gene.

She said: “I’m in a lot of pain and I can’t hold my children but I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself.”

Two years ago, Michelle had a double mastectomy to stop her getting cancer after having daughter Faith with Dublin husband Hugh Hanley.

But she decided to wait to have the hysterectomy until after giving birth to the couple’s son Aaron Jay seven months ago.

She told OK! Magazine: “The big thing was getting my head around the fact I couldn’t have more children.

“When you’ve dealt with the fact you can’t have any more children, you’re not crying over that any more because I’m not one for regrets. Now it’s the realisation more recovery is needed than I thought.”
