Conor McGregor’s father Tony has opened up about his son’s retirement from the UFC.
The sports star caused Twitter to go into meltdown last night after he made the announcement on his social media.
Dubliner Tony admitted he and the rest of the McGregor family found out the news at the same time as the public.
“The last word we heard is he’s retired. That’s the latest word,” Tony McGregor told the Independent.ie.

“The news broke to us at the same time as everyone else. We have spoken but we can’t disclose anything.
“All his social media followers are in the same boat (seeking clarification). Everybody wants to know,” he said.
“He’s in Iceland. Go and talk to him.”
