Holly Carpenter has admitted it’s difficult for Irish people to date nowadays.
Opening up about catching a sneak peek of RTE’s new dating show First Dates, the model admitted the experience bought back her own memories of dating.
“It brought back memories of dates in my teens. I’m kind of glad that when I was younger we only had Bebo and MSN because dating is so different now,” she said.

“I think it’s really hard for Irish people to meet someone these days.
“A lot of my single friends head out at the weekend with the hope of meeting a nice guy, but I don’t think you ever find someone when you’re looking,” she wrote in her column with The Herald.
Speaking about her own past experiences of dating, the former Miss Ireland admitted none of her relationships were born out of wanting a boyfriend – but was rather “serendipity”.
“None of my relationships started from a night out or began when I felt I was ready for a boyfriend,” she revealed.

“I believe in serendipity and, as cliched as it sounds, I think everything happens for a reason.”
The 24-year-old revealed her parents got engaged after just three weeks together – however Holly insisted her family don’t have to worry about her acting on the same impulse.
“My mum and dad met in a bar and three weeks later they were engaged. They’ll probably kill me for writing that, but it’s true.

“At the time their friends and family said it was too soon, but they’re still happily married.
“It worked out well for them, but they always said they would kill me if I came home engaged to someone I’ve only known for three weeks,” she added.
“I might act on impulse sometimes and I believe in love at first sight, but I don’t think they have to worry about that happening.”
