Louise McSharry taught by cancer fight to stop worrying about her weight and 'enemy' body

2FM star Louise McSharry has revealed her battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma has completely changed her body image.

The RTE presenter revealed that before her diagnosis, she always thought of her body as her “enemy”, however she is now grateful to her body for fighting off the deadly disease.

She said: “[My body image has] actually completely changed, in a really constructive way. I would have spent a long time obsessing over my weight and in a way, I’ve always seen my body as a separate entity.”

“For a really long time, it’s been my enemy, and I’ve kind of blamed it for everything.”

However, the 31-year-old is now grateful to her body for fighting off her cancer and the presenter now plans to be kinder to herself.

“I’m just so grateful that it has brought me through this with relative ease,” she said.

“I’m looking at my body and going: ‘Ok, let’s make a deal. You’ve gotten me through this and I’m so grateful for that, so I’m going to be really good to you in the future.’

“It’s not about weight or size anymore, it’s just about being fit, healthy and strong.”

Looking ahead: Louise with fiance Gordon

Louise also revealed her fiance Gordon has been incredibly supportive throughout her battle and was with her when she was diagnosed.

She told VIP Magazine: “We found out together. H’s extremely supportive. He’s great because he is a lot more careful than I am.

“There’s been a lot of nights in and a lot of missed occasions, and he has never complained. He’s never made me feel that was a huge sacrifice for him, even though I’m sure that it has been at times.”
