Louis Walsh: Radio is a 'very boring place' since Gerry Ryan's death

Louis Walsh has found Irish radio a “very boring place” since Gerry Ryan died four years ago.

The X Factor judge said there are “a lot of very bad Gerry Ryan impersonators” who are coming up with “terrible radio”.

He said: “Radio has become a very boring place since he died. Every station has been trying to copy him and every station has been doing it badly.

Boring: Louis claims radio is poor quality now

“There are a lot of very bad Gerry Ryan impersonators out there making terrible radio. I still miss hearing him pontificate and I miss bumping into him around Dublin.

“Radio is duller without him and so is Irish social life. He was a once off.”

The 2fm star died four years ago in his home on Leeson Street in Dublin, with an inquest discovering traces of cocaine in his system.

He had been pulling in 296,000 listeners every morning before his death in 2010.
