Legendary late frontman ‘lined-up’ for stage return as hologram

The legendary late frontman of rockband Queen, Freddie Mercury, has been “lined-up” for a stage return as a hologram.

The iconic singer tragically passed away in 1991 at the age of 45.

The company which manages his back catalogue has now reportedly filed a trademark for his name in 3D and virtual reality.

This means the star could be digitally re-created.

Legal papers show the name has been reserved for “immersive 3D virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences” and for “virtual environments.”

Speaking last year, Queen bandmate Brian May, said: “We’ve talked about and looked at holograms of Freddie.”

“We love to be live and dangerous, that’s it, that’s our emphasis.”

“Now, when we’re all gone, yeah sure, make an ABBA thing about us, but while we’re here I want to play live.”
