Jedward vow to represent Ireland again at Eurovision – and begin hunt for winning song

Pop twins Jedward have revealed they will represent Ireland for the third time at the Eurovision next year.

The former X Factor stars have offered themselves up – as RTE start a new hunt for a song and performer to represent Ireland.

It comes as RTE have axed the Eurovision mentor system – in a last ditch attempt to finally win the song competition again.

And John and Edward Grimes believe that after coming eighth in 2011 with Lipstick, they could bring home a win in Vienna.

John said: “We would represent Ireland again. RTE are looking for an act who can make it into the finals.

“We believe we can win for Ireland. All we need is the right song.”

Eurovision experts claim their poor showing the next year in Baku, Azerbaijan, which saw them finish 19th, was down to their song Waterline.

And Edward told the Irish Sun that they are hoping someone has the song that they need to finally win.

He said: “We’ve no fear of a big stage. We just need the right song, and if there’s any talented songwriters out there, who wants to help us win Eurovision for Ireland, we want to hear from you.”

John added: “Being recognisable to audiences all over Europe is half the battle.”

Last year Ireland were embarrassed across Europe after Kasey Smith failed to even get through to the Eurovision final in Denmark.

Last year’s Eurovision was won by Conchita Wurst, with the 60th anniversary of the competition to be held in Vienna, Austria on May 23.
