The Script’s frontman Danny O’Donoghue has paid tribute to The Voice US contestant Christina Grimmie, who was  tragically killed.

The 22-year-old American singer was shot dead after her Florida concert on Friday night – during a meet and greet with fans.

Dubliner Danny, who appeared on The Voice UK as a coach for two years, took to Twitter to share his sympathies with her loved-ones.

“Thoughts and prayers for the family of Christina Grimmie. The whole Voice family mourns the loss RIP @TheRealsGrimmie,” he wrote.

Members of the band Before You Exit were signing autographs after their Orlando gig when a male suspect fatally shot Christina.

The 22-year-old appeared on season six of The Voice joining Adam Levine’s team and finished third.
