Michael Fassbender in talks to play Apple founder Steve Jobs in movie of his life

Michael Fassbender is being lined up to play Apple founder Steve Jobs in an upcoming movie of his life.

Producers have been forced to find a new lead for Jobs after Christian Bale walked out on the project today.

Now sources have told Variety that the Kerry actor is in early talks for the role, which is being directed by Danny Boyle.

It is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of the computer mogul who died in 2011, and will take place in three long scenes.

Each will shot backstage before one of Apple’s product launches, writer Aaron Sorkin has previously confirmed.

“The first one being the Mac. The second one being NeXT, after he had left Apple. And the third one being the iPod,” he said.

“It’s a little like writing about the Beatles. There are so many people out there that know him and revere him.”

Previously Leonardo DiCaprio had been considering the role but eventually said no to take time off from acting, while Gone Girl’s David Fincher had been in talks to direct.
