Liam Neeson tipped for Oscar glory in 2017

Liam Neeson has been tipped for Oscar glory, as his next blockbuster hit is set for release later this year.

The Ballymena native, known as one of the most respected actors in Hollywood, could finally see the chance to nab himself an Oscar, as Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film Silence will be released in either November or December – just in time before the 89th Academy Awards, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

The 64-year-old once came close to nabbing an Oscar for Best Actor back in 1994, for his role as World War II German industrialist Oskar Schindler in Schindler’s List – but lost out to Tom Hanks for his performance in Philadelphia.

Success: Liam has been tipped for Oscar glory | VIPIRELAND.COM

Oscar glory for Liam would be fitting, as he was intensely committed to his role in Silence, having lost a dramatic amount of weight to fit into his character’s description.

Silence is a historical drama, that will follow two Portuguese Jesuit priests that face violent persecution when they travel to 17th century Japan to seek out their mentor and spread the teachings of Christianity.

Liam will play mentor Cristóvão Ferreira, and the film also stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Ciarán Hinds.
