Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are set to reunite in a prequel to Ocean’s 11.Â
After the success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, the stars are set to star in the first Ocean’s 11 film since the Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett-led Ocean’s 8, released in 2018.
The prequel will be set in Monte Carlo in 1962, far-removed from the Las Vegas setting of the original Ocean’s 11, starring George Clooney.
Not much is known about the plot, however Margot Robbie’s production company, Lucky Chap is set to produce the film.
Lucky Chap Entertainment executive and Ocean’s 11 prequel producer, Josey McNamara told Games Radar: “I think we’re doing right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.”
The original 2001 Ocean’s 11 film featured a star-studded cast and saw George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s characters involved in a casino heist in Las Vegas.
There has been three sequels since, Ocean’s 12, Ocean’s 13 and the female-lead Ocean’s 8.
The producer stated that he hopes this is the beginning of future collaborations between Margot and Ryan.
Josey told the Associated Press in June, that he wanted the film to be “old-fashioned” and that Margot pitched it to him as a “kind of old-fashioned epic love story slash adventure disguised as a heist.”
Jay Roach, director of the Austin Powers film, is also set to direct.

Josey commented on the duo by stating: “Originally there were questions whether it would have been weird to have them together again after Barbie.”
“But I think there’s just some pairings you want to see over and over again. It’s such a powerful, powerful duo, you know?”
Margot and Ryan’s combined stardom led to the major success of Barbie, with the film grossing $1 billion at the box office – a record for Warner Bros studios.
