Timbaland has apologised after saying Justin Timberlake should have ‘put a muzzle on’ Britney Spears.
Last week, fans were left outraged when the music producer revealed he was tempted to reach out to the NSYNC star after Britney made a number of bombshell claims about their former romance in her memoir The Woman in Me.
The 51-year-old said: “I wanted to call and say, ‘JT, you gotta put a muzzle on that.'”
Timbaland further claimed Britney was trying to “do something to get people’s attention”.
“You know what? We live in the age of social media and… everybody wants to go viral,” the music producer said. “I get it because that’s the way you make money [is to] go viral.”
After facing backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter, Timbaland has apologised to Britney and her fans.
Speaking in a TikTok Live on Tuesday, he said: “I’m sorry to all the Britney fans, even to her.”
“You have a voice. You speak what you wanna to speak. Who am I to tell you what not to speak?”
“I was wrong for saying that,” Timbaland added.
He later emphasised that he respects women, saying: “Hell yeah!”
