Katy Perry will reportedly be paid $25 million for her new role as a judge on American Idol.
TMZ have reported that ABC were “desperate” to book the singer for the show’s judging panel ahead of the ‘Upfronts’ – when station bosses revealed their new schedules to advertisers and the press.
“Katy had all the leverage. If ABC ended up announcing the show without a judge, they’d be screwed,” said a source.

American Idol was axed by Fox last May, however, it appears some of the show’s original stars could be set to make a comeback as Ryan Seacrest is in talks to host the talent series once again for its autumn reboot on ABC.
It’s not yet known who will join Katy on the famous panel.
