Phoebe Bridgers has revealed she had an abortion last year.
The American singer shared the news after the Supreme Court’s drafted opinion to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade decision, which legalised abortion in the US, leaked online on Monday night.
The 27-year-old wrote on her Instagram Stories: “I had an abortion in October of last year while I was on tour.”
“I went to planned parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access,” she added.
Phoebe then shared the link to an article from The Cut that listed abortion funds to which people can donate.
The Motion Sickness singer did not disclose who she was expecting a child with, but she has been dating Irish actor Paul Mescal since 2020.
The couple were first linked in the summer of 2020, when they were spotted on a brunch date in Kinsale, Co. Cork.
Months later, the pair were spotted at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse in England, and onlookers told the Mail On Sunday that they were “all over each other”.
Paul and Phoebe made their red carpet debut as a couple in November last year, and they went Instagram official the following month.
Rumours are rife that the couple are now engaged, after Phoebe reportedly referred to Paul as her “fiancé” at Coachella last month.
