New report claims Taylor Swift ‘declined Meghan Markle’s personal letter’ to appear on her podcast

Taylor Swift reportedly declined the opportunity to appear on Meghan Markle’s podcast.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s multi-million dollar deal with Spotify was ended earlier this month, after just one season of the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast Archetypes.

A-list guests such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling, Constance Wu, and Paris Hilton appeared on the first season but according to a new report, Taylor refused to be on it.

According to Los Angeles-based journalist Kinsey Schofield, the singer received a “handwritten” invitation from the former Suits star asking her for a sit down interview.

Kinsey told Sky News Australia host Caroline Di Russo: “Taylor refused to do (Archetypes). Meghan wrote her a handwritten note and asked her and Taylor rejected her through her representatives.”

Archetypes, which premiered last August, saw Meghan “uncover the origin of these stereotypes and have uncensored conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape narratives”.

The podcast was the first and only series released as part of Harry and Meghan’s rumoured $20m deal with Spotify, which was first announced in late 2020.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Meghan and Harry’s Spotify deal came to an end after their production company Archewell Audio failed to meet the “productivity benchmarks required” to justify the $20m payout.

The outlet has also reported that Spotify executives were “frustrated” with the time it took Archewell to come up with an idea for Meghan’s podcast and assemble a team to work on it.
