James Corden set for HUGE career change after quitting Hollywood talk show

James Corden is reportedly set for a huge career change after he quit his Hollywood talk show.

The host’s late night show, which ran for eight years, came to an end earlier this year when the dad-of-three decided to focus on his family.

The 45-year-old is now set to star in a West End production over the summer.

James will star in the world premiere of Joe Penhall’s The Constituent at the Old Vic Theatre from June 13th to August 10th 2024.

The new play boats a star-studded cast as BAFTA winner Anna Maxwell Martin who is renowned for starring in Motherland, Line of Duty and Poppy Shakespeare has also signed up.

Anna will play a hard-working opposition backbencher whose ideals of public office are tested by the demands of a man in dire need of help, played by James.

The play is set to deconstruct politics, panic alarms and the tension between public service and personal safety.

Joe Penhall said: “I began writing this play four years ago, as I became fascinated and appalled by the growing antipathy towards elected politicians.”

“But during lockdown it looked like theatre was done for, so when I showed a rough first draft to Matthew and he had such a confident vision for it, I was simultaneously thrilled and doubtful of our chances.”

“It’s beyond exciting to be finally doing it and I feel utterly indebted to The Old Vic and everyone involved for getting us here.”

The exciting career news for James comes after the host’s co-creator of Gavin and Stacey Ruth Jones denied the sitcom would return for a Christmas special.

During an interview on RTÉ Radio 1, Ruth responded to the rumours and said: “Apparently there’s a bidding war going on between the BBC and Netflix and I love it because it says ‘a source says’, who is this source?”

“It’s sadly a rumour… All I can say is, if there was something to say on that front, James and I would happily announce it, we would,” she concluded.
