Halsey defends Kanye West over fears the rapper is suffering from a bipolar episode

Halsey has defended Kanye West and asked fans not to mock the rapper, as fears grow that he is struggling with his bipolar disorder.

The Be Kind singer expressed her sympathy with Kanye, after a bizzare Twitter rant and a breakdown during a speech at his presidential rally resulted in growing concerns for the rapper’s well-being.

Halsey, who has spoke openly in the past about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her teens, took to Twitter to tell fans she was “disturbed” by the discussion surrounding Kanye.

“Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isn’t a joke,” she shared.

“No jokes right now. I have dedicated my career to offering education and insight about bipolar disorder and I’m so disturbed by what I’m seeing.”

“Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isnt a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.”

“A lot of people you know probably have bipolar disorder and you aren’t aware of it. Taking this opportunity to make offensive remarks and villify people with mental illnesses is really not the way to go…this is the exact triggering shit that causes people to keep quiet about it.”

“You can hate someone’s actions or opinions without contributing to stigma that damages an entire community of sometimes vulnerable people all for a couple of laughs,” she continued.

“If you wanna think someone is an asshole, go ahead. Lots of people with mental illnesses are great. Lots of them are assholes. Because they are people. With nuanced personalities.”

“But making jokes specifically targeted towards bipolar hurts more than the 1 person your angry with.”

Halsey finished by signing off: “Sincerely, Human Being with a Decade Long Bipolar Diagnosis.”

The news comes after reports that Kim Kardashian and her family are “very concerned” about her husband Kanye, amid fears he’s “in the middle of a serious bipolar episode”.

Last night, the presidential hopeful took to Twitter to accuse his wife and in-laws of attempting to get him locked up: “Ya’ll tried to lock me up.”

In a since-deleted Twitter rant, the father-of-four accused his wife of “trying “to bring a doctor to lock me up”.

“If I get locked up like Mandela Ya’ll will know why,” he seemingly referenced Nelson Mandela.

The 43-year-old also screenshotted his Google search for the phrase “righteous indignation”, which is defined as a reactive emotion of anger following mistreatment, insult, or malice of another.

In his speech at his first presidential campaign rally yesterday, Kanye spoke about abortion – stating through tears: “I almost killed my daughter.”

“Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into this world, when I did not want to.”

He then shouted to the crowd: “She had the pills in her hand…I almost killed my daughter!”

People magazine quoted sources who have claimed Kim is “worried” about her husband’s wellbeing.

The insider said: “Kanye has been doing well for a long time. In the past, he has suffered both manic and depressive episodes related to his bipolar disorder. Right now, he is struggling again.”

“Kim is concerned, as well as her whole family. It’s super stressful for Kim, because Kanye’s behaviour is very unpredictable. She is worried.”

“The episodes usually last for a few weeks and then things go back to normal. Kim hopes it will be the same this time,” the source added.
