Demi Lovato opens up about ‘awkward and uncomfortable’ method to boosting self esteem

Demi Lovato has revealed how she keeps up her self-esteem and it’s not the norm.

The singer is an advocate for body positivity and mental health and has been very vocal about her struggles with mental illness in the past.

The Confident hit maker previously admitted that she used to have an “emptiness” inside that she self medicated with different substances. The star is currently five years sober and has transformed her mental outlook.

In an interview with People magazine, the songstress revealed her life hack to boosting self esteem – she talks to herself in the mirror.

Demi uses “positive self-affirmation” every day , as well as exercise to stay fit confident and healthy.

The New Mexico born beauty commented: “When I’m really down, I do a positive self-affirmation, I talk positively to myself in the mirror. As awkward and uncomfortable as it can be, it can be really self-assuring. I also talk to people around me.”

Lovato discussed her other self-esteem boosting tips too. The singer revealed that exercise lifts her spirits. “Getting in the gym makes me feel the best I possibly can, so I make sure I get that in.”

In an interview with Glamour, Demi offered some further life advice, she commented : “You wouldn’t put diesel in a Bentley. When you treat your body like a Bentley, you value yourself and you start to look at your body differently”.

The fitness fanatic, has currently teamed up with Kate Hudson’s fitness clothing brand “Fabletics” for a limited edition line.
