Celine Dion breaks down in tears in trailer for documentary about health battle

Celine Dion broke down in tears in the trailer for an upcoming documentary about her current health battle.

In December 2022, the 55-year-old revealed her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), which leaves sufferers as “human statues” as it locks their bodies into rigid positions.

There is no cure for SPS; however, at the time the Canadian singer revealed she was doing all she could to minimise its symptoms.

The singer shared a first look at the documentary titled I Am: Celine Dion which is set to follow her journey trying to get back on stage again – which will be released 25th June.

In the clip, Celine confessed she is ready to talk about her health battle: “I see my life and I love every piece of it.”

Later in the trailer, she is seen holding back tears as she opens up about how her rare health diagnosis has affected her ability to perform.

She admitted: “It’s not hard to do a show, it’s hard to cancel a show. I’m working hard every day but I have to admit it’s been a struggle.”

“I miss it so much, the people, I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk and if I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. And I won’t stop,” she continued.

When the documentary was first announced, Celine said in a statement: “The last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me.”

“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.”

“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

In May last year, Celine cancelled all remaining dates on her Courage World Tour amid her ongoing health battle.

In a statement, the Canadian singer said: “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%.”

“It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again.”

“I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
