Billy Joel, Michael Bublé and more have lead tributes to Tony Bennett following his death.

The legendary singer died in his hometown of New York on July 21 at the age of 96.

Publicist Sylvia Weiner confirmed the sad news, stating there was no specific cause; however, Tony was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease back in 2016.

Tributes have been flooding in for the late 96-year-old since news broke of his passing.

Billy Joel said: “Tony Bennett was the one of the most important interpreters of American popular song during the mid to late 20th century. He championed songwriters who might otherwise have remained unknown to many millions of music fans.”

Michael Bublé wrote: “Tony Bennett is one of the greatest vocalists, storytellers and interpreters of all time. To say he was an important part of who I became is an understatement. My grandpa was constantly playing Tony Bennett records when I was growing up, and it was the honor of a lifetime to learn from him.”

“Having my hero take me under his wing was one of the greatest moments of my life and my career. How did I get so lucky to kneel at the feet of the master for 2 decades? Tony, I’ll never stop learning from you, and I promise you I’ll do my best to keep the music we cherish alive. Rest in peace. -Michael.”

Former US President Barack Obama tweeted: “Tony Bennett was an iconic songwriter and entertainer who charmed generations of fans. He was also a good man—Michelle and I will always be honored that he performed at my inauguration. We’re thinking of his wife Susan, his kids, and everyone who is missing him today.”

Christina Aguilera wrote: “Saddened by the loss of a true music icon, Tony Bennett. Tony’s immense contributions to the industry will forever resonate with us all. Cherishing the memories of our personal collaborations. His voice, his talent, and his passion for music will never be forgotten 🤍.”

Lenny Kravitz said: “Class, style, grace, elegance, a velvet voice, a sincere smile, kind eyes, a narrator of our lifetime, a beautiful human. Tony Bennett. He ran the long race and brought us all joy. Thank you sir.”

Mariah Carey tweeted: “Rest in Peace Tony Bennett. It was such an honor to work with one of the world’s most beloved, respected and legendary singers of the past century. We will miss you ❤️.”
