Nicky Byrne insists: 'A Westlife-Boyzone super group is NOT happening'

Nicky Byrne has shot down reports that Westlife and Boyzone are set to join forces for the ultimate Irish super group.

Ronan Keating had teased fans that there was a possibility the two bands could join as one, but Nicky has insisted it won’t be happening.

“Personally at the moment, no I wouldn’t (do it),” he told Goss.ie.

“I think Ronan is just answering the question to a rumour that’s been going around for weeks and months at this stage.

“It would be great. To be honest with you, I can’t see it now, but if it ever happened it would probably be well after a Westlife reunion,” he said.

While Nicky, Markus, Shane and Kian have all been adamant that there won’t be a Westlife reunion anytime soon, the Eurovision star said whenever they do decide to get back on stage it will be epic.

“If we got back together it would be for us, for us to enjoy it. Why would we want to go out and share that stage with four other lads,” he admitted.

“Even though we’re both Irish bands and boy bands there was many years between us and different fan bases and all the rest. But I suppose the answer for me right now is no.

“But I would love to do a Westlife reunion down the road, it would be the best fun. We’ve played in some of the biggest arenas in the world we’d the best fans, and the best buzz so someday definitely,” he added.
