WATCH: Ryan Tubridy reveals how he narrowly escaped a freak accident

Ryan Tubridy has revealed that he narrowly escaped a freak accident in a popular burger place in Dublin.

The Late Late Show host told the frightening tale during a Facebook Live chat on RTÉ One’s Facebook page, and revealed that the scary situation took place in Bunsen on South Anne Street with his eldest daughter, nephew and colleagues.

“[We went] because one of my colleagues was a bit poorly but not poorly enough they couldn’t have a burger… they just had a hectic night researching the music scene in Dublin.”

The presenter then told how two men sat beside them in the restaurant, causing their area to become a little cramped so they moved tables to a different corner of the burger joint.

“Just as we moved seat, a bang hit the window upstairs, the window smashed and there was a hole in the window.

“Turns out the awning outside the front had broken and the pole that was holding the awning had whipped around and where I’d been sitting was just here,” he said while pointing to beside his head.

“So I could have died!”

Although Ryan admitted that he probably wouldn’t have died, he would have been pretty banged up, and revealed that thankfully nobody was hurt.

“No, I’m just joking.  I could have ended up with glass in my face which would have been a good look, or a pole in my eye which would have been…. imagine doing a show with a black eye and then all the rumours?

“No one was sitting there thankfully. Everything’s fine. It’s just an aul sceal, one of those bizarre things, something exciting in my life.  But the burger was delicious!”

Tune in to The Late Late Show tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
