While 2016 has seen a number of wacky nail trends, there’s a new glam but equally terrifying nail look to have hit Instagram.
Born from the existing trend edge nails, prism edge nails are created by using an acrylic powder or gel.
The end result is a crystal clear razer-like finish which looks stylish but also pretty dangerous.
To achieve the edgy look, the technician files down the nail to create a sharp, angled shape.
During the process, little colourful shreds are applied inside the nail to create the crystal-like sheen.
Taking over Instagram, the extreme trend ranges from long, sharp jeweled talons to softer, smaller dainty nails.

Despite the scary look, this trend that can be adapted to suit tastes more so than previous nail looks this year and when done right can be utterly elegant.
However, if you plan on chancing your arm with this trend, be careful not to scratch anyone’s eyes out!
