Irish stars Saoirse Ronan and Michael Fassbender are both being tipped for 2016 Oscar gongs.
Recently, the Carlow actress’ performance in Colm Toibin’s Brooklyn won praise at Sundance and according to Indiewire’s latest list, she’s the front runner to be shortlisted for the Best Actress category.
The 21-year-old is joined on US film and television industry website list by Rooney Mara, Charlotte Rampling, Lily Tomlin and Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Cate Blanchett.

Saoirse is no stranger to an Oscar nomination having previously nominated at 13 for her role in Atonement.
Meanwhile, Kerry actor Michael Fassbender has also been tipped for the Best Actor gong for his role in Macbeth by the industry website.
It would be 38-year-old’s second nomination for the prestigious awards previously loosing out to Dallas Buyer’s Club’s Jared Leto in 2014.
