“I remember we talked about learning Irish, because she told me she was learning Irish or improving her Irish.

“What was my answer? It was smart ass answer – ‘give me 10 reasons why you should be President?’ or something like that,” he added.

Possible President: Pat revealed he thought his former colleague would make a good President | RTE

Discussing whether the mother-of-eight would be a good Head of State, Pat admitted said she would be the perfect choice.

“I’m sure she would, yeah – I’m absolutely sure that she has a lot of the qualifications that would be required,” he told Goss.ie at the launch of his show In the Round on UTV Ireland.

“She knows enough about politics number one, knows when to intervene or otherwise, she’s certainly a dignified presence – I think she could do virtually all the tasks that are required of our President without too much difficulty.

“It would depend, if Ryan [Tubridy] was up against her it could be a tough call,” he smiled.
