With news breaking today that Nicky Byrne will represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision, the singer has opened up on the rumours.
Known as one fourth of Westlife, this would mark his first solo music project since the band split.
Although speculation is mounting, the 37-year-old refused to confirm or deny reports he will follow in the footsteps of Jedward and Johnny Logan.

“I don’t comment on rumours, I never have done and anything you’ve read are unconfirmed reports,” he said.
However, the 2FM presenter’s on-air partner-in-crime Jenny Greene didn’t help the rumour mill when she said the song could be performed at her wedding.
“The winning song from the Eurovision may or may not be performed live at my wedding but that’s where I’m leaving it,” Jenny added on the Nicky Byrne Show.
