Maria Walsh: 'I hope my TV3 work doesn't stop me from working with RTE'

Maria Walsh has admitted that she hopes her presenting work with TV3 wont hurt her chances of moving to another station in the future.

The former Rose of Tralee’s TV career is taking off after she was recently announced as the host of this year’s TV3 Toy Show alongside Brian Ormond.

The Philadelphia Rose also recently guest hosted an episode of The Seven O’Clock Show and has been signed up by top celeb agent Noel Kelly.

However, ambitious Maria has said she would love the chance to work with other broadcasters in the future.

“I want to work with everybody. It’s just that TV3 have been particularly supportive to the extent that they would offer me a huge opportunity like this,” she told The Irish Sun.

“Nobody has really seen me presenting on TV before and the Toy Show will be a huge stage.”

This is Maria’s highest profile TV gig to date and the 28-year-old admitted she’s feeling the pressure.

“The only real TV work I’ve done is being interviewed as the Rose of Tralee so TV3 are taking a big chance on me giving me something like this.”

“I’m nervous but at the same time I know I can’t let them down,” she said.

Co-host Brian Ormond has insisted his new on-screen partner has nothing to worry about and he’s confident she’ll do great.

“I’m not worried at all. Maria is just fearless,” he said.

“There’s not a bother on her. We were all new to TV once and I remember doing my first live kids TV show on RTE.”

“Luckily I had Sinead Kennedy by my side and Maria will have me. It will be alright on the night — in fact it will be fantastic.”
