Lisa Cannon: 'I worked for free to land my dream job on Xpose'

Lisa Cannon has revealed she worked for free for years to land her job as an Xpose presenter.

The TV3 star has worked on movie sets all over the world, as well as for production companies, all for free.

“I worked on film sets as an extra, I would cold call people and ask could I work on their movies,” she explained.

“I even got to work on set with Jim Sheridan. Everybody’s advice was get in and work for free, do a bit or writing, a bit of production, anything you can do to get into media,” she told the Irish Mirror.

Lisa started out her presenting career with a show on Q102 as well as standing in for Mary Kennedy on Nationwide and having her own show on City Channel.

Speaking about interviewing international stars, Lisa said she was nervous when she met Beyonce.

“I remember being intimidated as they opened the red velvet curtain and there she was, it was a gaspy moment,” she admitted.

“As we were waiting for the cameraman to load the tapes, I told her my dad was there and she was waving to him. It was so special. At the end of the interview my dad did the unthinkable and mortified me asking her would she mind posing for some photos for him.

“I mean you can barely get a photo with a celeb never mind get Beyonce the biggest star in the world to do it and she said ‘ no problem’. She posed for loads of pictures for him, he was adjusting the lens and I was like ‘please, please stop, stop, enough’.
