Karen Koster on losing TV3 Toy Show gig: 'I was never told'

Karen Koster has revealed that she was not told that she wouldn’t be reprising her role as TV3 Toy Show host, before it was announced that Brian Ormond and Maria Walsh were the new presenters.

The TV3 regular, who recently announced that she is pregnant with her second child, co-hosted the first Toy Show on TV3 last year with ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden.

Speaking at the launch of the IKEA Soft Toy Campaign yesterday, Karen admitted she was happy that Maria essentially took her place, despite not being aware of the change.

“I was delighted because I am such a fan of hers,” she said.

“I hadn’t heard anything about the toy show so I kind of figured that it is not my gig this year.”

Although she admitted that she would have liked to get the gig again, she thinks Maria will do a great job and her and Brian Ormond will work well together.

“I’m delighted it is her doing it because I would hate to be watching someone else going, ‘I think I could’ve done a better job.’

“I think she is a great choice and her and Brian Ormond will work well together,” she told the Irish Daily Star.

The news comes after this week TV3 denied they had axed Brian McFadden, with a spokesperson saying “We just wanted to go with someone new. He wasn’t axed, we hadn’t considered him for the role this year.”
