Cork actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has jetted to Morocco to film new movie Damascus Cover.
The Tudors star has landed the lead role in the flick, with his wife-to-be Mara Lane joining him for the next few weeks. Johnny, 37, plays Hans Hoffmann in the movie, which is set in 1989 Berlin.
The film centres around the true story of a veteran spy who is sent undercover in Syria to smuggle a chemical weapons scientist and his family out of the country.

The Dracula actor is currently on location, and will star alongside Olivia Thirlby, John Hurt, Igal Naor, and Navid Negahban. ‘I’m enormously excited about this role,” Johnny said of the casting.
“This was a hugely significant time in the conflict in the Middle East, post-Cold War and with the collapse of the Berlin Wall when an amount of spies were redeployed to the Middle East, where the theatre of covert operations would now take precedence.”
