Irish artist Villagers nominated for prestigious award

Irish artist Villagers, aka Conor O’Brien, has been nominated for the Ivor Novello Songwriting Award for his third album Darling Arithmetic.

The Dubliner released his third album a year ago, which he solely wrote, recorded, produced and mixed at his home in Malahide.

The album raced straight to the top of the Irish charts after it’s release last April, knocking Hozier out of the number one spot.

Conor will be up against Jamie xx (In Colour) and Supergrass lead singer Gaz Coombes (Matador) in the Album category.

Snow Patrol stars Johnny McDaid and Gary Lightbody have also been nominated in the songwriting category, for their work on Ed Sheeran’s song Bloodstream.

The prestigious Ivor Novello Awards are highly respected in the music industry because they are voted for by songwriters and composers themselves.
