EXCLUSIVE! Deirdre O'Kane confirms there will be a Moone Boy movie

Deirdre O’Kane has revealed that Moone Boy the movie will go ahead.

The comedian spoke to Goss.ie at the launch of the Galway Comedy Carnival and said that a movie adaptation of the TV series is in the pipeline.

“I’d say there is truth to that, I know that Sky want to make it so when you’ve got the company saying we’re happy to pay for it. I’d be very surprised if it didn’t happen, whether it happens next year or not I don’t know but I would expect that it would happen” she said.

Movie: Deirdre confirmed a Moone Boy movie is happening

The actress, who stars in the popular TV show, believes that the film will do well due to the success of the show and with the help of leading man Chris O’Dowd.

“Really you just don’t know, I’ve learned that through Noble, you do not know what to expect from the film industry. I do know that Netflix and Amazon Prime the new huge thing that need content so I think it will have a life when you’ve already got a successful TV show.”

“I’d say it would do well so I’d say it will do well and Chris is a big star now,” she added.

The mother-of-two also revealed that she will be moving back to Ireland in the future so her children can get educated here.

“I’m going to move back next year. It will be ten years I’ve been in London so that’s my plan. I think I’m going to come back for secondary school.

“It’s interesting isn’t it the secondary school is a big compliment to Ireland, we still rate the education system very highly. Unless I get a better offer and go to New York,” she explained.
