Brian McFadden reveals: 'I turned down a role in Corrie'

Brian McFadden has revealed that he was approached to join the cast of Coronation Street.

The former Westlife star had been linked to the role of Aidan Connor which later went to X Factor winner Shayne Ward.

The Dublin native was forced to turn down the long-running UK soap due to time constraints with other shows.

“I did actually get asked to go and have a meeting with Coronation Street about doing a role in it but time wouldn’t let it because I was doing Who’s Doing The Dishes? and I had an album coming out,” he said.

“I couldn’t live in Manchester for nine months or whatever it was. I just told them I didn’t have the time.”

“I think Shayne Ward got the job,” he told The Sun.

It looks like fans wont be seeing Brian popping up on a soap at any stage in the future as he admitted he’d prefer to focus on other things.

“No, I like doing my TV stuff and my music. I just couldn’t give up that amount of time. I would probably give up that amount of time if I got a movie but not to do TV.”

Meanwhile, a Coronation Street spokesman confirmed that: “Everyone who we auditioned for the role of Aidan had acting experience.”
