Bono on U2's haters: 'I take it as a compliment'

Bono has revealed that haters of U2 don’t bother him and he actually takes their criticism as a “compliment”.

The band are set to take to the stage tonight in Dublin’s 3Arena and the frontman has insisted he doesn’t care about the band’s “uncool” reputation.

“I take it as a compliment. We were always the band to divide people, not to unite people,” he said.

“To sing ‘In the name of love, what more in the name of love’, it was as uncool in 1984 as it is now,” he told Dave Fanning on 2fm.

“And that’s why people came through the doors, because someone was going to say it,” he explained.

“To sing about your faith, how uncool is that in rock and roll. To sing about your mother. Come on, it’s like ‘shut up’.
