Mrs Brown's Boys star to raise funds for Buncrana pier victims

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Danny O’Carroll is organising a charity fundraiser in Co Donegal to raise funds for the family of the victims of the Buncrana pier tragedy.

The actor, who plays Buster in the hit series, originally planned to hold a fundraiser to help suicide prevention charity Pieta House set up a centre in Co Donegal, but when he heard about the Buncrana tragedy – he decided he had to do something.

The fundraiser will include a celebrity golf classic at the Rosapenna Golf Couse in Downings on May 27, as well as a gala dinner at the Shandon Hotel and Spa in Dunfanaghy that night.

Last month, Louise James lost her partner Sean McGrotty, sons Mark and Evan, her mother Ruth Daniels and sister Jodie-Lee Daniels when their car slid into Lough Swilly.

Louise’s four-month-old daughter, Rionaghac-Ann, was rescued from the car by local man Davitt Walsh – and now Danny is adamant to help them.

“They are two separate causes but I thought with all the celebrities who are going to be in Donegal on May 27 we could get two events up and running,” he told The Irish Mirror.

Helping hand: Danny knows money will be of little comfort – but it’s something | VIPIRELAND.COM

“I know money will be of little comfort to Louise right now, but if I can help raise some money for her and her daughter then that’s what I want to do.”

“It’s going to be a happy day with loads of fun on the golf course and then at night the celebrities will be waiters for the gala dinner and two very worthwhile causes will benefit from it,” he added.
