The Voice of Ireland AXED as RTE make way for Ireland's Got Talent

This year’s series of The Voice of Ireland is set to be it’s last as RTE gets ready to make room for Louis Walsh’s Ireland’s Got Talent.

TV insiders have revealed RTE bosses have given the go ahead to an Irish version of the hugely successful talent show franchise that will replace The Voice next year.

According to the Sunday World, Louis Walsh will be the main judge and he will also be picking who his fellow mentors will be.

A host of the music manager’s close friends and industry pals including Keith Duffy and Linda Martin are said to be in the running for the gig.

“Louis’s dream person to be on the show would be his bosom buddy Sharon Osbourne,” a source told the paper.

“But she would be too expensive and also would find it almost impossible to find the time to do it for so long from her Los Angeles base.”

Duo: Simon Cowell will reportedly be involved in Ireland’s Got Talent | VIPIRELAND.COM

“It is likely Simon will come over to Ireland to be involved in some way in its launch here,” another insider divulged.

While RTE may have given Louis the go-ahead, TV3 recently rejected Ireland’s Got Talent when the former X Factor judge pitched it to them.

Former TV3 boss Lynda McQuaid said at the time an Irish version of the franchise would feel “parochial, very quickly” however she pointed out she would love to work with Louis in the future.
