Aslan member Billy McGuinness has revealed he thinks Nicky Byrne will do great at the Eurovision.

The former Westlife star will represent Ireland in Sweden at the 2016 contest and Billy has high hopes for him.

“Nicky looks good, he’s got a great personality and he’s got a lot of fans through Westlife, so I think he’ll do really well,” he said.

“He was part of one of the biggest boybands ever. I think it’s a great idea to send him.”

“It’s not really about the song any more, it’s all about the spectacle and he knows how to play the game.”

“It’s all about getting your face out there, and there’s no better man than Nicky to do that,” he told The Herald.

Support has been coming in strong for Nicky since it was announced he would represent Ireland.

The singer told Goss.ie that his Westlife bandmates are all backing him for success along with other stars like Ronan Keating, Louis Walsh and Brian Ormond.

Nicky has decided to forego his fee and has requested his payment to go back into the production costs.

“Some countries spend more money than others, RTE have a budget which is very similar to previous years, they haven’t increased it because it’s me.”

“The fee was offered to me and to be honest with you, I’m very patriotic and it’s an honour, so I wouldn’t expect money and nor would I want money.”
